On 1 March 2018, Thursday, in the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, Viktoras Pranckietis, Speaker of the Seimas, delivered a historical speech on Lithuanian-Polish relations, common past and sustainable future.

The Speaker of the Seimas invited Poland to join the project Mission Siberia. “It would be meaningful to pay tribute to the memory of people by involving the citizens of your country in Mission Siberia, which has been carried out for 16 years. Young people from Lithuania and Poland could visit the places of exile and alongside spruce up the neglected graves of Lithuanian and Polish deportees,” said Mr Pranckietis from the rostrum of the Polish Parliament.
Please find the full version of the speech on the website of the Seimas.
Mr Pranckietis is the third Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, who has delivered an official speech in the Polish Parliament. He was preceded by Česlovas Juršėnas in 1993 and Vytautas Landsbergis in 1997.
Mr Pranckietis is visiting Poland on the occasion of the Centenary of the Restoration of the State of Lithuania. Immediately after the event, the Speaker of the Seimas will meet Stanisław Karczewski, Marshall of the Senate of the Republic of Poland.
