Loreta Graužinienė calls on the Ukrainian authorities to stop violence

Loreta Graužinienė, Speaker of the Seimas, has expressed deep condolences to the families of the perished Ukrainians and called on the Ukrainian authorities to immediately end the bloodshed.

“By continuing violence against Euromaidan demonstrators, Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovich is consciously or unconsciously isolating himself from his Nation and the international community. Therefore, I would like to call on Volodymyr Rybak, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to undertake the initiative for ending violence against protesters, to stop ignoring the popular will and to remember that the Verkhovna Rada, both position and opposition, operate under the mandate of the Ukrainian people and represent the interests of the entire Nation,” stated the Speaker of the Seimas.

Ms Graužinienė underscored that only negotiations may enable a peaceful agreement and an end to violence.
