Loreta Graužinienė, Speaker of the Seimas, hosted the newly elected Latvian Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma who paid an official visit to Lithuania. Bilateral relations between Latvia and Lithuania were discussed at the meeting.
“I am happy to note that the relations between Lithuania and Latvia are wonderful. A number of common strategic projects are being implemented, which contributes to strengthening both economic and cultural relations between our countries,” said the Speaker.
The leader of the Parliament also underlined intense and productive cooperation between the two Parliaments. The Seimas is willing to share its experience of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the EU with its Latvian colleagues. Latvia will hold the Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2015.
Mrs Graužinienė also promised to visit the traditional events of the Baltic Unity Day to be organised in Rucava later this year.
