Loreta Graužinienė, Speaker of the Seimas, met with Aleksander Kwaśniewski, former President of the Republic of Poland, to discuss the bilateral relations between Lithuania and Poland.

“Lithuanian–Polish relations need to be good. There is no other way. We are neighbours; we must address the issues that are currently preventing our countries from fully focusing on the strategic and mutually beneficial projects in the areas of transport, energy, and other domains,” the Speaker of the Seimas said.
She also stressed that relations between Lithuania and Poland were excellent during Mr Kwaśniewski’s presidential term of office. Poland supported Lithuania’s accession to NATO and the European Union, the outgoing President of Poland and Valdas Adamkus combined their efforts directed to Ukraine.
Alexander Kwaśniewski assured the Speaker of the Seimas he would endeavour to assist in improving the cooled relations between Vilnius and Warsaw.
“For my own part, I will make every effort to address the issues of ethnic minorities living in Lithuania in a legal and systematic way so that cooperation between our countries is reinforced,” Mrs Graužinienė said.
