Loreta Graužinienė, Speaker of the Seimas, met with Pope Francis in Vatican. During the meeting, the Speaker of the Seimas, on behalf of the people of Lithuania and in particular on behalf of the disabled, invited the Pope to pay an official visit to Lithuania. The Pope thanked her for the invitation.
Ms Graužinienė also offered the Pope a silver medallion with the image of St Mary from the Gates of Dawn as a token of appreciation. Having kissed the medallion, the Pope expressed his gratitude once again, asking to pray for him.
On April 19–23, the Speaker of the Seimas participated in the last parliamentary dimension event of the Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in Rome, the Conference of Speakers of the EU Parliaments.
