On behalf of the Seimas and on her own behalf, Loreta Graužinienė, Speaker of the Seimas, congratulated Oqtay Asadov, Chairman of the Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on Republic Day.
“The Lithuanian and Azerbaijani people had long fought for their independence and the right to foster their native languages and cultures. Both countries became independent in 1918. In the same year, Lithuania recognised Azerbaijan as an independent state. Currently, both countries engage in an active political dialogue and cultural cooperation,” the congratulatory letter of the Speaker of the Seimas reads.
Loreta Graužinienė stressed that Azerbaijan could pride itself on its fast and dynamic growth and modernisation and wished every success and productive and creative work to the Milli Mejlis, as well as well-being and prosperity to the people of Azerbaijan.
