Loreta Graužinienė, Speaker of the Seimas, congratulated
John Boehner, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, who had
recently visited Lithuania, and Orrin
Hatch, President pro tempore of the United States Senate, on Independence Day
of the United States.
“Being a leader of democracy since 1776, your country is an example for
the entire world of what basic values should underpin the life of a state and
how to ensure the well-being and security of its people.
Taking this opportunity, I would like to
reaffirm that Lithuania is a committed partner of the United States of America.
Lithuania and the United States are linked by strong bonds of friendship and
partnership in NATO in meeting complex security challenges,” Mrs Graužinienė wrote in her
congratulatory letter.
On the occasion of this important holiday, the
Speaker of the Seimas conveyed her best greetings to all the people of the
United States of America.
