Graužinienė, Speaker of the Seimas, received Valerii Zhovtenko, Ambassador of
Ukraine, ending his term of office in Lithuania. The Speaker thanked the
Ambassador for the cooperation in maintaining active relations with Ukraine and
assured him that Lithuania would remain a committed partner of Ukraine on its
road to European integration and would give full support to Ukraine in settling
the conflict with Russia and overcoming the complex economic situation.

“Lithuania
has a strong and clear position on Ukraine. The potential of the Seimas of the
Republic of Lithuania to cooperate at the level of parliamentary Speakers and
groups for inter-parliamentary relations and in the trilateral Assembly has
been and will continue to be harnessed to help Ukraine in the process of
integration into the European Union and to defend its independence and
territorial integrity,” Loreta Graužinienė said.
The Speaker
pointed out that Ukraine and other Eastern Partnership countries remain a
foreign policy priority for the Seimas.
