The Speaker of the Seimas highlighted Lithuania’s consistent support to Georgia’s efforts to move towards European integration and NATO membership and urged to continue implementing reforms.
“Lithuania is prepared to assist Georgia in ensuring deeper European integration. Georgia has made significant progress along this road, but, at present, it is important to keep up the momentum and continue the work in progress,” said the Speaker.
The leader of the Seimas highlighted that the strong links between Lithuania and Georgia were reinforced by close interparliamentary cooperation aimed at transferring Lithuania’s experience of democratic reform and convergence with Europe. Ms Graužinienė also emphasised the crucial need for more effective cooperation in international parliamentary organisations, including the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
