Loreta Graužinienė, Speaker of the Seimas, met with Jyrki Katainen, Vice-President of the European Commission (EC) for Jobs, Growth, Investment and Competitiveness, and with Vytenis Povilas Andriukaitis, Commissioner for Health and Food Safety.

During the meeting, the leader of the Seimas and high-level EC officials discussed the Investment Plan for Europe and opportunities for Lithuania offered by the European Fund for Strategic Investments which is a key component of the Investment Plan.
“The establishment of the European Fund for Strategic Investments is beneficial for the Member States. This will open up a wider range of opportunities for new investments that will accelerate economic growth and the creation of new jobs. The Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania is ready to ensure a more favourable regulatory environment for investments,” said Loreta Graužinienė.
The Speaker noted that the issue will be further debated by the committees involving all interested authorities and social partners.
The Investment Plan for Europe was announced by the Commission in November 2014.
