In the historical Hall of the Act of 11 March, Loreta Graužinienė, Speaker of the Seimas, welcomed the participants of the solemn commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Training Regiment.

The Speaker of the Seimas expressed her gratitude to all those who contributed to the origins of the Armed Forces of the Independent State of Lithuania. Lithuania would not only have its regular army, but would also be proud of it. Be proud not solely of its weapons and equipment or other technical figures. But above all, be proud of its soldiers, their competence and, most importantly, of their inherent values and their motivation to be on guard to protect the State,” said Loreta Graužinienė.

In her welcome speech, the Speaker personally addressed the conscripts in the Hall. She said that they were the youth of the restored independent state following the calling of the homeland and heart to defend their country and nation.

“Your current experience as conscripts in the Lithuanian army is invaluable. I hope that some of you will find your true vocation in the Lithuanian army, while others will live a genuine and meaningful civilian life here, in your country. I believe in you and I am proud of you!” stressed the Speaker of the Seimas.

The Training Regiment was founded by the order of the Director General of the Department of National Defence on 22 February 1991, marking the origins of the regular Lithuanian Armed Forces.
