Speaker of the Seimas invited the parliamentarians to focus on the main tasks during the spring session

Speaker of the Seimas, Loreta Graužinienė, together with the Board of the Seimas and chairs of the political groups and committees, and members of the Government, discussed the tasks and priorities for the upcoming spring session of the parliament.

The Speaker underlined the need for the committees to review the future tasks within their competence and to clearly identify priorities. “It is necessary for all of us to stay focused, because, obviously, over one thousand draft laws currently before parliament cannot be adopted during the spring session. We all realise that this is the last session of full duration for this Seimas; thus, some laws, if not adopted today, will be postponed for the future. Meanwhile, people expect concrete results. Therefore, I invite all – the Government and the Opposition – to focus on the essential work,” said Mrs Graužinienė at the meeting.

 

Besides, she drew attention to the matters under the Government’s programme still outstanding and urged the ministries to actively contribute to the development of the draft laws.
