Press release, 14 November 2015

On Saturday evening, in solidarity with the mourning people of France, Loreta Graužinienė, Speaker of the Seimas, joined her fellow-nationals at the French Embassy in Vilnius to pay tribute to the memory of the victims of the terrorist attack in Paris. After laying a wreath of flowers and lighting the candles to commemorate the victims, the Speaker of the Seimas made an inscription in the book of condolences at the Embassy.

“This is a fight against our identity and our European values. However, we will remain ourselves regardless of the terrorists’ strive to intimidate and divide us. I trust that instead of undermining Europe, this tragedy beyond comprehension will bring even more unity to the European continent. We will remain united by a strong spirit of solidarity and an unmatched level of spiritual force,” the Speaker of the Seimas said after having expressed her condolences to the French Ambassador Philippe Jeantaud.
