Eugeniusz Grzeszczak, Vice Marshal (Deputy Speaker) of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, who came to attend Lithuania’s Independence Day events, had a meeting with Vydas Gedvilas, Speaker of the Seimas.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the opportunities for interparliamentary cooperation and the upcoming Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The Speaker of the Seimas reiterated the invitation extended to the leaders of the Polish Parliament by Lithuania to actively participate in the events of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the EU and stressed the importance of cooperation between the two parliaments. Gedvilas highlighted that more active discussion at the parliamentary level on the most pressing bilateral issues is necessary not only during the Presidency.
Grzeszczak, Vice Marchal of the Polish Parliament and Chair of the Assembly of Members of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the Sejm and Senate of the Republic of Poland, welcomed the opportunity to be in Lithuania on this important day and reiterated Poland’s support to Lithuania during the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council. He said that the Lithuanian Presidency opens new avenues for cooperation between the Parliaments of the two countries.
During the meeting, historical events that unite the two nations were also remembered.
