Speaker of the Seimas signed in the book of condolences in the Georgian Embassy


Vydas Gedvilas, Speaker of the Seimas, visited the Embassy of Georgia and signed in the book of condolences on behalf of Lithuanian people and the Seimas and expressed his sympathy over the death of seven Georgian soldiers in Afghanistan.

“I have my sincere sympathy for the families and relatives of the killed Georgian soldiers. Please accept our words of support and sympathy. I am sorry about the tragedy and I hope you will remain strong during this tough moment in our fight for a more secure future for all of us,” Mr Gedvilas wrote.

The Speaker reminded that a part of Georgian soldiers serve in the Lithuanian-led provincial reconstruction team in the province of Ghor, Afghanistan. “We have always appreciated their devotion and professionalism and we are grateful for their impeccable service. Georgians are our good friends therefore we share their grief over this painful loss,” Mr Gedvilas said.
