Speaker of the Seimas, Loreta Graužinienė: "Made in Lithuania becomes a quality label in Japan"

Press release, 1 March 2016

During her official visit to Japan, Loreta Graužinienė, Speaker of the Seimas, opened the traditional exhibition of Lithuanian production in the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Tokyo and welcomed the participants and guests. She said that the exhibition held for the fifth time showed well-established and increasingly growing economic relations between Lithuania and Japan and that, in search of high quality, Japanese ever more frequently chose the goods produced in Lithuania.

“I am delighted that Japanese ever more often come across goods that bear the words Made in Lithuania. We see a trend that an increasing number of Lithuanian enterprises export to Japan their production varying from food to medical appliances and research equipment,” said Ms Graužinienė inviting the guests to look at Lithuanian textile products, admire things made of amber referred to as the Baltic gold, and look at the unique works of Lithuanian designers.

“I invite you to discover Lithuania — the country that highly appreciates Japan and takes pride in friendship with it,” stressed the Speaker of the Seimas.

Ms Graužinienė expressed her hope that the first contact of Japanese businessmen with Lithuania would open up new horizons and spark further interest in Lithuania that is famous for its glorious past, unique language, nature of extraordinary beauty, creative and friendly people, and considerable economic, scientific and cultural potential.

She thanked the staff of the Lithuanian Embassy and Egidijus Meilūnas, Ambassador of Lithuania to Japan, for the development of relations between the two countries, and she also expressed gratitude to enthusiasts from Japan–Lithuania Exchange Centre for significant contribution to the strengthening of economic ties.

Today, Ms Graužinienė has also discussed Lithuania’s entrepreneurial potential and opportunities for bilateral cooperation at the meeting with Yosuke Takagi, Japanese State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.

The official visit of the delegation under the leadership of the Speaker of the Seimas, Loreta Graužinienė, to Japan on 28 February – 5 March 2016 is organised in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Japan.
