On 14 July 2012, Mrs Irena Degutienė, Speaker of the Seimas, paid a visit to Prienai District where the first meeting of the World Lithuanian Youth was held and greeted its participants.
On the occasion of the visit, the biggest historical flag of Lithuania was hoisted on the hill near the venue of the event and the national anthem was sung. Our national anthem holds the following words, Let unity blossom. This place, this event bears that unity the unity of the World Lithuanian Youth. I would like to thank all of you on behalf of my generation. Your participation in todays meeting is a move which shows that your care for Lithuania, Mrs Degutienė said.
The Head of the Parliament highlighted to the young people that the present-day Lithuania has already outlived its pre-war existence. It is only up to you to determine what is going to happen next. God grant it be so that we celebrate further decades and centuries of independent Lithuania thanks to the energy and work of the Lithuanian youth from all around the world, Mrs Degutienė said.
