Speaker of the Seimas Arūnas Valinskas met with President of Bulgaria Georgi Parvanov on his visit to Lithuania.
The meeting focused on economic cooperation of the countries, the energy sector and tourism. Interparliamentary cooperation opportunities were also discussed.
Mr. Valinskas positively commented on the fact that Bulgaria was sixth according to foreign direct investment of Lithuania, and pointed out that Lithuania had the potential and resources to increase the investment volume.
Now we should look at the worrying future, rather than the past, thus small countries should help one another even more than during any other time period. EU solidarity one of the fundamental values is particularly relevant today, said the Speaker of the Seimas.
The President of Bulgaria noted that Lithuanian specialists were very welcome in developing the road infrastructure of Bulgaria.
Politicians should open the door to opportunities, and business people will realise them, the Head of the Lithuanian Parliament stated.
Concerning the energy sector, the Seimas Speaker stressed that energy security remained one of the priorities, and Lithuania saw many opportunities to further transnational cooperation in the nuclear energy sector.
The Head of the Seimas highlighted the importance of both political and public relations, and expressed his positive opinion about the developing business relations and the increasing flow of Lithuanian tourists to Bulgaria.
