About the Group

Aim:

Ensure respect and implementation of the policy of equal opportunities at the Seimas and in Lithuania at large and non-discrimination of Lithuanian citizens on the basis of race, ethnic and national origin, language, gender, sexual orientation, background, social status, faith, beliefs and views, religion, and disability.

Objectives:

• Draft and consider draft laws and other draft legal acts and proposals regarding human rights, equal opportunities, and non-discrimination;

• Offer recommendations and proposals on human rights, equal opportunities, and non-discrimination to national authorities and organisations;

• Engage in the development and implementation of the policy of equal opportunities in Lithuania and monitor its implementation;

• Promote public participation in the process of shaping and implementation of the policy of equal opportunities in Lithuania;

• Promote education on human rights, equal opportunities, and non-discrimination in Lithuania;

• Develop interparliamentary cooperation in the area of human rights and equal opportunities.
