30 March 2010
On her own behalf and on behalf of all the
Members of the Seimas Mrs Irena Degutienė, Speaker of the Seimas, conveyed her
condolences to families and friends of the victims of terrorist attacks in the
Moscow Metro. The Speaker of the Lithuanian Parliament sent a message of
condolences to Mr Boris Gryzlov, Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
May I on behalf of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and on my own behalf offer my
sincere and heartfelt sympathy to families and friends of those who lost their
lives in the Moscow Metropolitan on 29 March 2010. Let me wish strength to
those, who suffered from this appalling act of terror, in treating the wounds
of their body and soul left by the brutal attack, Irena Degutienė wrote in her
message of condolences.
This act of terror and the casualties of your
fellow-citizens remind us once again that extremism and violence accompanying
it do not regard any state borders and sows death among innocent people. Such
horrific events that move all good-willed people to the bottom of their hearts
call for our consolidation and joint efforts to resist any violence and
coercion, at the same time seeking our friendly concord based on mutual respect,
Irena Degutienė continued.
