Cooperation between Lithuania and Japan featured in the photo exhibition in the Seimas

Marking the 20th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Japan, the Exhibition Gallery of the Seimas (Building II) hosted the opening of the photo exhibition on 12 October, with Irena Degutienė, Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas; Miyoko Akashi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Lithuania; and Emanuelis Zingeris, Chairman of the Seimas Foreign Affairs Committee.

The exhibition features two key themes: the 20th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Japan and the efforts to reconstruct and rebuild Japan after the Great Earthquake that befell its eastern coast. The exhibition is the expression of Japan’s gratitude to Lithuania for its huge support.

The photographs exhibited there speak of the history of relations between Japan and Lithuania before and after 1991. They portray the locations devastated by the earthquake and the tsunami as well as the current situation – the rapid on-going reconstruction possible due to the support from Lithuania and other world countries.
