The Board of the Seimas approved the proposal of the Committees on Foreign Affairs and European Affairs to specify long-term priorities of the Seimas in the field of international relations.
In its decision of 6 February, the Board of the Seimas endorsed the following long-term priorities of Seimas international cooperation: active membership of the EU, preparation for and Presidency of the Council of the European Union; active NATO membership; strengthening of Transatlantic relations and ties with the United States of America; relations with the Nordic countries and Baltic Sea region states; enhancing of good neighbourhood relations; international co-operation by participating in the parliamentary dimension of the United Nations, the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the European Council and other international organisations; support to the reforms and Euro-Atlantic integration aspirations of the EU Eastern Partnership countries; and relations with the Lithuanian diaspora and Lithuanian communities and organisations abroad.
