On 18 January 2013, members of the Seimas Committee on European Affairs met with Dalia Grybauskaitė, President of the Republic of Lithuania, to discuss Lithuania’s preparations for the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The members of the Committee on European Affairs stressed the role of the Committee in the on-going monitoring and parliamentary scrutiny of the process of preparation for the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council. The President heard presentations on the parliamentary dimension events to be organised during the Presidency and the model for granting the negotiation mandate in advance to be used during the Presidency as well as discussed the coming tasks on the Committee’s agenda.
