H. E. Mr Josip Leko Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Republic of Croatia
Dear Mr Speaker, On behalf of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and my own, may I extend my sincere congratulations to you and the people of your country on Croatia’s accession to the European Union. Croatia’s accession on 1 July 2013 is a special day which will be celebrated not only by Lithuania as the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. On this day, Croatia, the youngest Member, joins the family of the EU Member States. I am genuinely happy that the start of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union coincides with the beginning of Croatia’s membership of the European Union. It is my earnest belief that Croatia’s membership of the EU will open up new possibilities for mutual cooperation and strengthening of regional links between the Baltic States and other Western Balkan countries. Dear Mr Speaker, may I avail myself of the opportunity to express again my satisfaction with Croatia’s accession to the European Union. I am convinced that Croatia, as an EU Member State, will contribute to ensuring a credible, growing and open Europe and set an example to other accession countries. Taking this opportunity, I express to you, Dear Mr Speaker, the assurances of my highest consideration and wish professional and personal success to you, as well as productive work to the parliament under your leadership.
Vydas Gedvilas |
