Preparation for the EU and the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius discussed by the Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Ukrainian Ambassador

On 9 July 2013, the Chair of the Seimas Committee on Foreign Affairs, Benediktas Juodka, met with the Ukrainian Ambassador to the Republic of Lithuania, Valery Zhovtenko, and the Head of the EU Department of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vsevolod Chentsov.  Relevant issues of Ukraine’s EU integration and preparation for the EU and the Eastern Partnership Summit to be held in Vilnius on 28–29 November 2013, were discussed at the meeting.

The Ambassador emphasised that Lithuania’s support and consultations in seeking positive results of the Summit are of critical importance. The Chair of the Seimas Committee, Benediktas Juodka, stressed that Ukraine’s further progress in implementing the necessary reforms and seeking to sign the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement in Vilnius is extremely significant. The participants of the meeting unanimously acknowledged the importance of mutual cooperation during the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
