Three new ministers were
sworn in at the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania: Virginija Baltraitienė, Minister
of Agriculture; Kęstutis Trečiokas, Minister of Environment; and Rimantė
Šalaševičiūtė, Minister of Health. The oaths of office were administered by Loreta
Graužinienė, Speaker of the Seimas.
In the 16th legislature
of the Government, the new ministers will replace Valentinas Mazuronis, who was
elected to the European Parliament; Vytenis Povilas Andriukaitis, who was nominated
to the European Commission; and Vigilijus Jukna, who has resigned.
Other members of the Government
remain the same and consist of Rimantas Šadžius, Minister of Finance; Šarūnas
Birutis, Minister of Culture; Juozas Olekas, Minister of National Defence; Algimanta
Pabedinskienė, Minister of Social Security and Labour; Rimantas Sinkevičius, Minister
of Transport and Communications; Dainius Pavalkis, Minister of Education and Science; Juozas
Bernatonis, Minister of Justice; Evaldas Gustas, Minister of Economy; Linas Linkevičius,
Minister of Foreign Affairs; Dailis Alfonsas Barakauskas, Minister of the
Interior; and Jaroslav Neverovič, Minister of Energy.
Pursuant to Article
93 of the Constitution, when taking office, the Prime Minister and the
Ministers shall, at the Seimas, take an oath to be faithful to the Republic of
Lithuania, to observe the Constitution and laws. The text of the oath shall be
established by the Law on the Government.
