Speaker of the Seimas has met with the President of the German Bundestag

At the meeting, Loreta Graužinienė, Speaker of the Seimas, and Norbert Lammert, President of the German Bundestag, discussed cooperation between Lithuania and Germany, the Eastern Partnership, the situation in Ukraine, and the scope for deepening parliamentary relations between Lithuania and Germany.

“Germany is one of our most important partners in Europe. Therefore, Lithuania places a high premium on the close political dialogue with Germany at all levels. The Seimas and the Bundestag have maintained active relations for many years. Nevertheless, it is possible and necessary to come up with new forms of cooperation to strengthen the parliamentary cooperation between our countries,” said Ms Graužinienė.

During the meeting, the Speaker of the Seimas expressed her appreciation of the fact that Germany is one of the major investors in Lithuania and drew attention to the fact that Lithuania is a strategically convenient location for investment. Therefore, investment had to be stimulated further.

Mr Lammert came to Lithuania to participate in the international conference of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation held in Vilnius on 26–29 May 2015. The conference takes place every two years in the capitals of the countries of Eastern Europe.
