Biography
Born on 26 January 1958 in Tiltagalių village, Panevėžys region into a family of teachers.
In 1976 finished Panevėžys secondary school No. 10. In 1977-1983 - studied at Kaunas Medical Institute (currently - the Medical University). In 1984 - worked as a paediatrician at Pasvalys Central Hospital. In 1988 - elected to Lithuanian Sąjūdis Council of Pasvalys region. In 1989 - elected Chairwoman of that Council. In 1990 - supported by Sąjūdis, was elected Deputy to the Supreme Council - the Reconstituent Seimas. Worked in the Commission of Municipal Affairs. In 1992 worked as a spokeswoman to the Seimas opposition, a reviewer of the Homeland Union (Lithuanian Conservatives)Parliamentary Group. Member of the Homeland Union (Lithuanian Conservatives ) since its establishment (1993). In 1996 - elected member of its Board at the Second Congress of the Homeland Union. Devotes much attention to the activity of self-governments and their relations with self-governments of other countries. Has published articles in the press. Speaks English and Russian languages. Married. Member of the Seimas Delegation to the Interparliamentary Union. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the Republic of France. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with North European Countries (Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Finland, Sweden). Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
