Biography
Born on 19 February 1955 in Kelmė region into the family of teachers.
Attended Pavandenės secondary school. In 1976 - graduated from the Vilnius University as a teacher of history and social sciences with honours. Worked at Klaipėda Polytechnic college, teacher of Klaipėda Department of Kaunas Polytechnic Institute. In 1987 -Doctor of Humanitarian Sciences. Docent of Klaipėda University. Member of the Seimas since 1992. Worked in the Health, Social Affairs and Labour Committee. On her initiative the Law on Social benefits to people injured in the Soviet Army and family member of the people who were killed in the army was adopted; laws on defending womens rights, the position of the state consultant on the issues of women was established, three conference of Women of Lithuania were held. Former member of the CPSU, currently - member of the Lithuanian Democratic Labour Party, deputy chairman of the Party, co-ordinator of the Lithuanian Democratic Women College. Likes cooking, gardening and spending her holidays on the sea. Speaks English, German and Russian languages. Divorced. Has a son. Member of the Seimas Delegation to the Baltic Assembly. Member of the Seimas Delegation to the Interparliamentary Union. Member of the Parliamentary Relations Group of Lithuania and the Republic of Austria. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with North European Countries (Denmark,Iceland, Norway, Finland, Sweden). Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the Federal Republic of Germany.
