Biography
Born on 10 August 1934 in Plungė region, into a family of a farmer.
1956 - graduated from the Veterinary department of Klaipėda Agricultural Technical school. Appointed to work as the veterinary doctor's assistant in Jonava region. 1958-1978 - Chairman of Pauliukų collective farm in Jonava region. 1978 - Chairman of Žeimiai collective farm in Jonava region. During the period of rebirth was elected Chairman of the Farmers' Sąjūdis. 1992 - Vice Minister of Agriculture under the Abišala Government. Since 1992 - member of the Seimas. Was member of the CPSU, currently - member of the Homeland Union (Lithuanian Conservatives). Speaks Russian. Wife Birutė works in the field of agriculture. The family has two daughters and a son. Member of the Seimas Delegation to the Interparliamentary Union. Chairman of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the Federal Republic of Germany.
