Born on 24 March 1936 in Rietavas, into a middle-class family.

Father was killed in 1941 on the first day of the war.

In 1954 - graduated from Klaipėda Agricultural technical school, worked on a collective farm.

In 1982 - Doctor of agrarian sciences.

In 1954-1955 - worked as an agronomist on Karolis Požėla collective farm in Varniai region, served in the Soviet Army.

In 1957 - second Secretary of the young Communist League of Plungė region.

In 1961 - Inspector of the State Buying up Inspectorate. Later - chief agronomist of the Board of Agriculture, Deputy head, Manager, Chairman of the Agro-industrial Amalgamation and Deputy head of the Executive Committee of the region.

In 1990-1993 - Deputy of the Self-government of Plungė region.

Former member of the CPSU. Supporter of the secession of the LCP from the CPSU. In 1989 - First Secretary of the Committee of the Lithuanian Communist Party of Plungė region, was a member of Council of Plungė region. Currently - a member of the Lithuanian Democratic Labour Party, Chairman of the Council of Plungė region.

In 1992-1996 - member of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Chairman of the Agrarian Committee.

Speaks Russian .

Married. Has a daughter and two sons.
