Biography
Born on 14 August 1945 in Alytus region.
Resides in Kaunas since 1950. In 1967 - graduated from Kaunas Polytechnic Institute (currently - Technological University), as an engineer economist. In 1970 - worked at Kaunas "Pergalė" Plant as an economist, later - as a chief economist. In 1970 - taught organisation of enterprises at Kaunas Polytechnic Institute, attended evening classes in philosophy at Evening University of Marxism-Leninism. In 1972 - took a course at the Institute of Economics Of the Academy of the USSR. Doctor of Social Sciences. In 1975 - docent of the Department of Business Management of Vilnius University, Kaunas Humanitarian faculty. Currently reads a course in business administration. Participated in the Presidential election campaign in support of Stays Lozoraitis. Former member of the Lithuanian Democratic Party, belonged to the Seimas Parliamentary Group of Democrats till November 1997. Participates in legalising private business. Organised the re-establishment of Kaunas Chamber of Commerce, was its Deputy President, recently - member of the Presidium of the Chamber responsible for interregional business policy. Hobby - books, psychology and philosophy. Speaks Polish, French and Russian. Married. Has a son and a daughter. Member of the Seimas Delegation to the Interparliamentary Union. Member of the Parliamentary Groups for the Relations of Lithuania and the Republic of Austria. Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with Ireland. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the Czech Republic. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with Greece and the Republic of Cyprus. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with Kuwait. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the Russian Federation. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with North European Countries (Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden). Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the Ukraine.
