Born in Radviliškis region, the village of Paežeriai, on 19 November, 1958.

Finished Šeduva secondary school in 1977. Graduated from the department of Economics of the Vilnius Engineering Construction Institute (currently - Gediminas Technical University) as an economist of construction. In 1982-1985 - a construction work superintendent in Vilkaviškis region. In 1985-1990 -an architect at Vilkaviškis Executive Committee, inspector of state construction and architecture.

In 1990 elected deputy to the Municipal Council of Vilkaviškis region, in 1991 - deputy manager of Vilkaviškis region, Chief the department of Economics and Finance.

In 1995 - a member of the Council and Board of the region.

In 1995 - marketing director of Joint stock company "Vilkasta".

Member of the Presidium of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party, in 1995 - Chairman of this Party fo Vilkaviškis department.

Speaks Russian and German.

Married. The family has two children.

Member of the Seimas delegation to the Interparliamentary Union.
