Biography

Born on 28 October 1958, in Alytus region into the family of peasants.

1975 finished secondary school. Currently studies at Kaunas Technological University.

Member of Helsinki Human Rights Committee. Distributed "Chronicles of Lithuanian Catholics." In 1988 was imprisoned in Lukiškės, Pravieniškes, later Mordovia prisons for refusing to serve in the Soviet Army.

1990-1994 - Chairman of Kaunas branch of the Lithuanian Christian Democratic Party, currently - member of the Party Board and Council.

1990-1995 - deputy of the Council of the city of Kaunas, belonged to the Christian Democratic Parliamentary Group, worked at the Education and Culture Committee. One of the re-establishers of the Lithuanian Christian Democratic Party, initiator of the Party weekly "Apžvalga" ('Review').

Speaks English, French and Russian languages.

Married, wife Raminta. The family has a son and two daughters.

A member of the Seimas Delegation to the Interparliamentary Union.

A member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the Ukraine.

A member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the Russian Federation.
