Biography
Born in Vilnius, on 17 January, 1958 into a working-class family.
In 1976 finished secondary school named after Antanas Vienuolis in Vilnius and was enrolled in the Department of Journalism at Vilnius University in the same year. In 1977 was expelled from University for his relations with the Lithuanian Helsinki Group. Graduated from University as an extra-mural student. Served in the Soviet army, worked in different cultural institutions, the Lithuanian radio. Inn 1989 worked for the weekly of the Lithuanian Reform Movement "Atgimimas", took a six-month course of professional training at World Press Institute in the USA. In 1990 was a representative for press at the Supreme Council -the Reconstitutive Seimas. In 1992 headed the Department of Information Analysis of the Seimas. In 1993 established the first private Public Relations Centre in Lithuania. Does not belong to any party. Speaks English and Russian. Has a wife and two daughters. Member of the Seimas Delegation to the North Atlantic Assembly Member of the Seimas Delegation to the Interparliamentary Union Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
