Born on 8 March 1962, in Šakiai region into a family of farmers.

In 1980 finished Šakiai secondary school.

In 1980-1985 - studied at the Department of Philology of Vilnius University.

In 1985 - worked as a teacher at the Department of the Lithuanian language of Vilnius University.

Was a post-graduate student.

In 1991 - Doctor of humanitarian Sciences.

In 1995 - docent, published scientific and popular science articles in Lithuanian and foreign press. Edited TV programme “Moki žodį - žinai kelią.”

Member of the Board of the Homeland Union (Lithuanian Conservatives).

Speaks Russian and German languages.

Married. Has a daughter.

Member of the Seimas Delegation to the Interparliamentary Union.
