Biography
Born in Šiauliai on 17 October 1948.
In 1955-1967 attended secondary schools in Pakruojis, Lygumai and Biržai. Worked at Kaunas Artificial Fibre Plant as an electrician. Served in the Soviet Army,in the North Fleet. In 1976 graduated from Vilnius University as a psychologist. In 1981-1984 took a post graduate course at Vilnius University. In 1976-1977 worked at the Department of Criminal Search of the Ministry of the Interior in Klaipėda. In 1977-1978 -a psychologist at Klaipėda "Red Cross" Hospital. In 1978 - a teacher general and social psychology at Vilnius Pedagogical Institute (currently - Pedagogical University). Took part in the activities of the Lithuanian Reform Movement Sąjūdis. In 1989 was elected Peoples' Deputy of the USSR. In 1990-1995 - Chairman of the Council of the city of Klaipėda. In 1995 - Director of "Litimpeks" bank of Klaipėda branch, a member of the city Council. Doctor of Social sciences. A member of the Lithuanian Centre Union, Chairman of Klaipėda Department and Chairman of Co-ordination Council of Žemaitija zone (1996). Married. The family has two children. Member of the Seimas Delegation to the Interparliamentary Union Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the Republic of Greece and Cyprus. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the Czech Republic. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with Kuwait. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with Italy. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with Japan. Member of the Interparliamentary Relations Group of Lithuania and the Republic of Austria Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the Knesset of Israel. Member of the Interparliamentary Relations Group with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
