Biography
Born on 5 March 1954 in Vilnius.
Having finished eight forms at A. Vienuolis secondary school in 1969, studied radioelectronics at Vilnius Polytechnic college. Worked at the Research Institute Radio Measuring Equipment. In 1973-1976 - served in the Soviet Military navy. Upon return to Vilnius, worked at "Vilmos" Plant as a worker. In 1973-1982 - studied at the evening Department of Industrial Economics of Vilnius University. Acquired the specialisation of an economist. Worked as head of the shop of "Vilma" Plant, deputy head of the Sales Department. In 1987 - elected Chairman of the Trade Unions of the Plant. In 1991 - Chairman of a newly established Lithuanian Trade Union of Metal Workers. Member of the council of the State Social Insurance Fund, President of the Lithuanian Orienteering federation. In 1995-1996 - member of the Council of the city of Vilnius. Reads lectures at Trade union seminars on the law of work, social insurance and the activity of the trade unions. Takes part in the activity of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions and the Council of the Baltic Trade Unions. Does not belong to any party. Speaks English, Polish and Russian languages. Married. Has a daughter and a son. Member of the Seimas Delegation to the Assembly of Representatives of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. Member of the Seimas Delegation to the Interparliamentary Union. Member of Parliamentary Relations Group of Lithuania and the Republic of Austria. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with Kuwait. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the Czech Republic. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the Republic of Greece and Cyprus Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the Knesset of Israel.
