Biography
Born in Prienai region, the village of Sokoniai on 1 April, 1949.
Finished Kaunas Polytechnic college in 1967 and in 1973 graduated from Kaunas Polytechnic Institute (currently - the Technological University) as a mechanical engineer. Worked as a teacher in the field of professional training and in 1978 - as a leading engineer, deputy manager, manager, director of a joint-stock company. A co-author of several inventions. A member of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party, a member of the Council of the Party’s Presidium. Was elected member of Vilnius city Council. Prior to being elected to the Seimas, worked as an advisor to member of the Seimas Aloyzas Sakalas. Speaks English and Russian. Married. Wife Dalia is an economist. The family has three daughters. Member of Seimas delegation to the Interparliamentary Union. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the Czech Republic. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with Canada. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with Kuwait. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with North European Countries (Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden). Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with Taiwan. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with Greece and Cyprus.
