Biography
Born on 12 May 1944 in Kaunas into a family of workers.
Studied physics and chemistry at Vilnius Pedagogical Institute (currently - Pedagogical University), later studied radio technology at Kaunas Polytechnic Institute (currently - Technological University). Graduated form it in 1970 as a radio engineer. 1972 - engineer at "Nuklonas", Television Plan and taught radio-technology at Šiauliai Polytechnics. 1990 - elected Deputy of the city of Šiauliai, was Deputy Chairman of the Council, Chairman of the Commission, was Chief of the Council's Secretariat. 1995 - Head of Šiauliai Patients Account. Takes interest in the health reform, issues of health insurance. Participated in the Activity of the Lithuanian Reform Movement Sąjūdis. Deputy Chairman of the Health Council of Šiauliai Community, member of the Council of the Cultural Fund of Šiauliai region. Member of the Lithuanian centre Union since its establishment, member of its Board and deputy Chairman of Šiauliai branch. Speaks English and Russian languages. Wife Elena is physician. Son Vytenis is a student. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with Italy. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with Taiwan. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with Japan.
