Biography
Born on 30 June in Kaunas, into a middle class family.
In 1958 graduated from the Department of Physics and Mathematics of Vilnius University. A mathematician. Was on a study tour at Minsk and Moscow Universities. In 1962 - a lab assistant at Vilnius University, head of the Computation Laboratory, head of the Computer Centre, senior lecturer. A member of the Board of the Lithuanian Catholic Academy. in 1990-1992 - the Government’s advisor on the issues of the Catholic Church and other confessions. Since 1992 - a member of the Seimas. A member of the Board of the Lithuanian Christian Democratic Party, deputy head of the Board. Speaks English and Russian. Wife Valerija is Doctor of Social Sciences. The family has two daughters - Rasa and Sigita. Deputy head of the Seimas Delegation to the North Atlantic Assembly. Member of Seimas Delegation to the Interparliamentary Union. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with Canada. Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the Federal Republic of Germany.
