Born on 15 October 1934 in Kaunas.

Went to school in Kėdainiai.

In 1959 - graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Agriculture, acquired the specialisation of an agronomist. Appointed to Chairman of “Pergalė” collective farm in Kėdainiai region.

In 1961 - Chairman of the Planning Commission of the Executive Committee of Kėdainiai region.

In 1962-1968 - Chief of the Board of Agriculture of the region. Dismissed when it became clear that father was convicted for anti-Soviet activity.

Till 1977 worked at the Lithuanian Hydro-technical and Land reclamation research institute.

In 1977-1991 - Chairman of the Board of Ramygala collective farm in Panevėžys region.

In 1988 - member of the Sąjūdis Seimas of Lithuania.

In 1989 - elected deputy of the USR.

In 1990 - elected, later re-elected Chairman of the Lithuanian Union of Farmers.

Member of the Seimas since 1992.

In 1997 - manager of newspaper “Ūkininko patarėjas” in Panevėžys region.

In 1998 - repeatedly elected member of the Seimas.

Published over 200 hundred articles, winner of five contests, author of books about meadows in Lithuania, author of scenarios for some amateur films.

Likes poetry, taking pictures.

Speaks Russian and polish languages.

Married. Has two children.

Member of Seimas delegation to the Interparliamentary Union.
