Committees and commissions of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania organise the European Week at the Seimas, a series of events which have now become a tradition. The events are open to society and designed to mark Lithuania’s accession to the European Union and celebrate Europe Day.

The events of the European Week at the Seimas organised since 2004 offer an opportunity for society to learn more about Lithuania’s membership of the EU, the activities of the EU, Seimas committees and commissions, and the role of the Seimas in the EU policy and decision making.

Members of the Seimas and staff of the Office of the Seimas, Lithuanian MEPs, members of public institutions and bodies, community representatives, members of non-governmental and business organisations, interest groups, university lecturers, students, the media, and the public are invited to participate in the events.

The European Week at the Seimas is broadcast live, and video recordings are made available on the Seimas website at www.lrs.lt. The events are also aired on the Seimas television channel Seimas – tiesiogiai (Seimas Live).
