In 1948 together with his parents was deported to Siberia, Irkust region, by the Soviet authorities, and in 1949 - to Krasnojarsk region. Returned to Lithuania in 1957 and started work in Kretinga region as a loader at the Department of Education. Attended evening school. Entered Kaunas Polytechnic Institute (currently - Technological University) and graduated from it in 1964. Doctor of Technical Sciences. Worked as a teacher at Kaunas Technological University till 1992. The author of 20 inventions and 50 scientific publications.
A member of the Seimas since 1992. In 1992-1993 - Chairman of the Council of the Lithuanian Sąjūdis Seimas. A member of the Homeland Union (Lithuanian Conservatives).
Member of the Seimas Delegation for the Relations with the European Parliament.
Member of the Seimas Delegation to the Interparliamentary Union.
Member of Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
