After finishing secondary school studied in the Lithuanian Veterinary Academy in 1949-1951 and 1962-1964. Was convicted to 10 years of imprisonment in the camps of the USSR for his resistance activity. Upon return to Lithuania worked in different plants of Lithuania, worked at Kaunas Artificial Fibre Plant for 25 years.
Since 1992 - member of the Seimas.
On 16 January 1989 was one of the initiators of the restoration of the Lithuanian Christian Democratic Party. Member of the Board and Council of the Lithuanian Christian Democratic Party; member of the Council of the Community of Political Prisoners and deportees.
Speaks German and Lithuanian languages.
Wife Elena was a political prisoner. The family has a son and a daughter.
Member of the Seimas Delegation to the North Atlantic Assembly.
Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with Italy.
