Born in Radviliškis region, Kačiuškių village, on 11 February 1943, into the family of farmers.

In 1959-1961 a worker at Kaunas "Bituko" plant.

Graduated from Kaunas Polytechnic Institute (currently the Technology University) as an engineer technician in 1965. Worked at the Glass Factory in the city of Lyvanai in Latvia. In 1967, a foreman, chief of the workshop, deputy manager for production at Panevėžys "Ekranas" Plant.

1990-1992, deputy of the Supreme Council - the Reconstituent Seimas. In 1992, member of the sixth Seimas. Worked at the Health, Social Affairs and Labour Committee. Chairman of the Council of the Refugees' Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania. A member of the State Pension Commission.

1988-1990 was a member of the Lithuanian reform movement Sąjūdis, a member of Sąjūdis Council of the city of Panevėžys. 1993-1997, a member of the Council of the Lithuanian Christian Democratic Party, currently -a member of the Party Council.

Speaks English and Russian languages.

Has a wife and two daughters.

Member of the Seimas Delegation to the Interparliamentary Union.

Member of the Seimas Delegation to the Baltic Assembly.

Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with the Czech Republic.

Member of the Parliamentary Group for the Relations with North European Countries (Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden).
