Born on 16 July 1953 in Pasvalys region. Finished Šiauliai secondary school No. 7, studied at Vilnius Engineering Construction Institute (currently - Gediminas Technical university., acquired the specialisation of an engineer-economist. Worked as a foreman, later an engineer of Šiauliai Republican Hospital construction, an economist of Capital Construction Department of Šiauliai Executive Committee.

In 1990 - head of the Secretariat of the Šiauliai city Council, chief of the Privatisation agency and Deputy Mayor for economic and social issues, worked at Zokniai Development Committee.

In 1996 - Assistant Director of Lithuanian USA Joint-stock enterprise “Šiaulių skrydis”.

In 19898 - became engaged in the activity of Sąjūdis, re-established Šiauliai division of the Social Democratic party, was its Chairwoman. Member of the Presidium and the Council of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party.

Speaks Russian and German languages.

Has a son.

A member of the Seimas Delegation to the Interparliamentary Union.
