Born on 7 January 1946 in Radviliškis region. Together with her parents was deported to Komi ASSR.

In 1963 finished Kaunas secondary school No. 4.

In 1970 graduated from the Department of Engineering Economics of Kaunas Polytechnic institute (currently - Kaunas Technical University).

In 1970-1972 - worked as a senior economist, later - manageress of the Operational Production Planning Office at Kaunas Electromechanic Plant.

In 1972-1983 - teacher at Kaunas Polytechnic Institute.

In 1983-1986 - docent at the same Institute.

In 1986 - docent at the Department of Economics of Vilnius University, Doctor of Social Sciences. Published over 100 scientific works.

In 1973-1979 - did research at the Institute of Designing Automated Management Systems.

In 1979-1986 - was supervisor of the theme at the Institute of the Ministry of Electrotechnics “Informelectro”.

In 1991-1993 - manager and co-ordinator of the projects financed by the European Union “The Role of the State in the Process of Restructuring eastern Europe” and “Privatisation and Financial Participation in the Baltic States”.

In 1990 - became engaged in a political activity.

Member of the Union of Political Prisoners and Deportees.

In 1994 headed the Committee of Interior Political Problems of the Homeland Union (Lithuanian Conservatives).

Speaks English and Russian languages.

Married. Her husband is a banker. The family has two children.
