Graduated from Kaunas Polytechnic Institute (currently the University of Technology) as railway engineer in 1959. In 1959-1962 - an engineer at Šiauliai Motorway Administration, work superintendent. In 1962-1964 - a chief work superintendent of the Administration of maintaining territories of enterprises and residential areas, as well as street reconstruction, roads and bridges of the city of Šiauliai. Gave lectures on job safety to the students of Šiauliai branch of Kaunas Polytechnic Institute.
In 1964 - a chief engineer of designs at the Šiauliai Department of the State Institute of Designing Motorways. In 1975-1978 - a post graduate student at Vilnius Engineering Construction Institute (currently Gediminas Technical University). In 1978 - head of the group of Natural and Social sciences of the Council of Šiauliai Engineers’ Club. Has published over 30 articles.
In 1990-1991 - the Mayor of the city of Šiauliai, in 1992-1995 - a Deputy Mayor. In June of 1995 - senior specialist on Traffic Problems at the Department of Communal Economy of the Self -government of the city of Šiauliai.
Takes interest in transport, problems in the field of motorways, urban planning as well as municipal work.
A club member of the largest and resort cities. A member of the Council of the Lithuanian Cultural Fund of Šiauliai region.
Devoted his free time to the culture of the Lithuanian language.
Speaks English and Russian.
Married. The family has a daughter.
Member of the Seimas Delegation to the Interparliamentary Union.
