In 1981 graduated from Kaunas Polytechnic Institute (currently - Technical University). And acquired the specialisation of an engineer - construction technologist.

Worked in Kaunas Housing Plant as a chief engineer, deputy head.

In 1986 - an engineer at the Department of Capital Construction of the Lithuanian Electric Power Station, chief foreman.

In 1990-1996 - Inspector of the State Supervision of the Self-government of Trakai region, deputy manager, manager.

From 12 April 1995 - mayor of Trakai region.

Member of the Lithuanian Centre Union, Chairman of its Elektrėnai group.

Speaks Russian and German languages.

Married. Has two daughters.

Member of the Seimas Delegation to the Interparliamentary Union.
